How SEO works
When you search the web, you are actually searching Google’s or another search engine’s index of the web. The search engines create databases of the web using software programs called spiders. The spiders fetch pages, find links on those pages and then follow those links, saving or indexing the pages to their databases as they go.
When you type in your search term Google searches its index for the most relevant results. It does this by asking its database of websites a combination of more than 200 questions including how many times does the term appear on the page, does it appear in the title, in the URL, do any synonyms appear on the page, how many links are there from other websites, are these from high quality websites or just spam websites. From these 200+ factors, it creates its overall score for each webpage called a page rank and returns the page with the highest rank. The search engine returns your result in a fraction of a second and will also show recent other searches that others have made and also recommend similar searches.
How to hire an SEO specialist
The first thing to be aware of when hiring an SEO specialist is that there are no magic tricks for the long-term success of your website. An SEO is only as good as your website and your business.
