Whilst these methods can be effective at ranking your website highly, we prefer to put in the hard work to get you well-earned, honest results. This also means that your website will have almost no chance of getting penalised, and a third party would not be able to see that you have been running an SEO campaign at all.

  • Always in the loop

We’ll keep you up to date with  records of your Search Engine Ranking Positions, regularly updated on-site optimisation reports, and a log of every single backlink that we create for your website. Full transparency and access to data means that you will always be able to see what you are getting for your money. Every package comes with free support via telephone and email, and you are always welcome to visit our office.

Why is SEO Important?

When looking for products and services most people will start their search by using a search engine. In the UK this mostly means Google, but search engines such as Bing and Yahoo are still important.

The vast majority of people never look beyond the first search engine results page (SERP) so being on the first page can be extremely lucrative for your business.

Investing money into a decent looking website that’s easy to navigate and answers all the questions potential customers might have about your product or service is only half the battle.

If nobody can find you online then you’ll just have a pretty website and no sales! Our SEO service is designed to get your website found and to generate you new business. Our SEO service will:

  • Help more customers find your business and the products and services you offer.
  • Make them more likely to buy your products and services once they have found your website
  • Build trust in your business so that customers keep coming back.
  • Make customers more likely to choose your business ahead of your competitors.
  • To make your business more profitable.

SEO is one of the areas of digital marketing that has a fair bit of mystery associated with it. Google, Bing and Yahoo don’t publish their ‘rules’ for getting to the top of their results. However, they do offer best practices on how to do so.

The key thing to remember is that the most important people to your website are your potential and returning customers. The easier your website is to find, to navigate and find information, the more likely they are to buy your products and services. Search engines will reward your website for all of these things because the ultimate goal of the search engine is to service their customers or searcher as efficiently as possible.

The reason our SEO service works so well is that the search engines have a vested interest in returning the most relevant results to searchers. Everything that we advise our clients to do is centred around this basic rule.

Our SEO service includes

  • On-page SEO

On-page SEO enables search engines to understand what your website and content is about and for what search queries your website should be returned for. We work with you to understand the words people type into search engines when looking for your products and services these are known as keywords. We make sure these keywords appear in the correct places on your web pages. On-page SEO is also about making sure that your content that explains different aspects of your products and services in enough detail. To help with this we also recommend using supplementary content such as video guides and FAQs in relevant places on your site.

  • Off-site SEO

As the name would suggest off-site optimisation is everything we do to improve the ranking of your website beyond the website itself. This is about building brand awareness and demonstrating your expertise elsewhere on the web. We help identify the which other areas of the web and which activities will have the most benefit to your site. This includes creating citations in business directories, writing blogs and commenting in forums on sites that are closely related your business. The objective is to improve the trust people have in your site. Every link to your site or mention of your company name is like a vote of confidence to say that it’s worth visiting your website.

  • Local SEO

Recent statistics suggest that almost half of all searches on Google are local. The rise in the importance of mobile devices has meant that search engines increasingly focus on local SEO. While all of the other SEO factors remain relevant, local SEO takes a number of other factors into account when deciding which businesses are shown first on search results. These include local customer reviews, links from relevant local resources including others businesses and directories.

  • Content creation

When people search the web they are essentially looking for useful and engaging content or the solution to their problem. The aim of search engines is to return this to them as quickly and painlessly as possible i.e. at the top of the search results. The key to writing good content is to understand what your potential customers want when they search, get it wrong and they click the back button or go to an alternative. Get it right and they spend more time on your site which improves your chances of selling more as well as moving up the search rankings.

  • Technical SEO

Our job is to make it easy for search engines to crawl your website so they can quickly find everything that is relevant, ignore everything that is not and return the most relevant results to web searchers. The technical aspects that we focus on include: schema and structured data, XML sitemap, indexing, crawl errors, 404 errors, page load speed, thin content, duplicate content and keyword cannibalization.

How SEO works

When you search the web, you are actually searching Google’s or another search engine’s index of the web. The search engines create databases of the web using software programs called spiders. The spiders fetch pages, find links on those pages and then follow those links, saving or indexing the pages to their databases as they go.

When you type in your search term Google searches its index for the most relevant results. It does this by asking its database of websites a combination of more than 200 questions including how many times does the term appear on the page, does it appear in the title, in the URL, do any synonyms appear on the page, how many links are there from other websites, are these from high quality websites or just spam websites. From these 200+ factors, it creates its overall score for each webpage called a page rank and returns the page with the highest rank. The search engine returns your result in a fraction of a second and will also show recent other searches that others have made and also recommend similar searches.

How to hire an SEO specialist

The first thing to be aware of when hiring an SEO specialist is that there are no magic tricks for the long-term success of your website. An SEO is only as good as your website and your business. Their goal should be to provide a good experience for your online customers. In the majority of cases, doing good SEO is doing good for your online customers, for example, your website should be mobile friendly, have good navigation and provide valuable information.

Google suggests “SEOs need 4 months to a year to implement improvements and to see the potential benefit.” They also suggest that your SEO should be able to corroborate any recommendations with Google documentation. This should help you avoid bad advice such as buying links which Google would never recommend.

Follow these steps when hiring an SEO specialist:

  • Have a 2-way interview with a potential SEO.
    • Do they show interest in you and your business?
    • Do they ask:
      • What makes your business/content uniques and valuable
      • What does your typical customer look like? How do they find you online?
      • How do you make money?
      • What other marketing channels do you use
      • Who are your competitors? What do they do well?
  • Check references
    • Were they helpful, easy to get on with?
    • Did they educate you and your team
  • Ask for a technical and search audit (you may need to pay)
    • Ask them to prioritise a list of improvements
    • Ask how long it will take to see the impact of these improvements
    • Ask another SEO agency to do the same

Finally, recognise that it takes time and commitment from your people to implement improvements. So before you start working with an SEO specialist, ensure that everyone in your business is committed to making things happen.
